The Galapagos-world is so amazingly beautiful and unreal, that you might think they are part of paradise or just a parallel universe. On our Travelling Classroom itinerary you will have many adventures, and get to know the culture and nature of this fantastical place. Beside learning Spanish you will climb active volcanos, learn surfing, snorkelling and go swimming, get to know an incredible unique flora and fauna – the secrets of evolution. This might be the adventure of your life!
Your Travelling Classroom adventure starts with your arrival on San Cristobal Island by plane. Your first task will be to taste freshly caught seafood for lunch. After this delicious meal your first Spanish lessons are waiting for you in the afternoon. After that you can relax by strolling along the nearby boardwalk of Cristobal Island.
The second day starts with some Spanish lessons in the morning, before you´ll have your next hearty lunch – but not to hearty, because you should be movable and fit for snorkelling in the turquoise water of La Loberia. Certainly you´ll spot sea lions and with a little luck you may spot marine turtles. After dinner you have time to relax.
After a delicious breakfast, we will to start with a full-day tour in one of the world’s most diverse marine wildlife areas. We will explore and discover the magnificence and the wonders of San Cristobal and the Galapagos. We will make a full loop around San Cristobal Island. During the day we will have several opportunities to snorkel and swim in incredibly beautiful waters, next to sharks, sea turtles and observe many of the birds distinctive to the Galapagos Islands. After dinner we will have a night dedicated to a well-deserved rest.
This morning we´ve got a healthy breakfast and Spanish classes prepared for you. After lunch, you will head out to the Interpretation Center of San Cristobal. You will learn more about the origin of the Galapagos Islands and discover the beautiful scenery. This tour will give you the opportunity to see what makes the Galapagos Islands so special: it´s conservation culture! After dinner it´s time for back packing – the Travelling Classroom rolls on.
Breakfast starts early today, because you´ll have an exciting tour by boat to Santa Cruz Island today. With a little luck you may you´ll watch dolphins along the way. Upon arrival you´ll have a bountiful lunch and move onto Spanish lessons in the afternoon. The rest of the day you can enjoy your free time – you may go out for dinner and watch the splendid sunset.
Not once to break the routine, your day starts with breakfast and Spanish lessons. After lunch it´s time for discovery again. You´ll head over to the Charles Darwin Research Station to learn more about the archipelago around you at the interactive museum and visit Giant Tortoise enclosures. In the evening we will go out to boardwalk at Puerto Ayora and enjoy freshly caught fish for dinner.
To find out, why people travel from far away to the Galapagos Islands, you will have a day based amongst beautiful nature. After breakfast and Spanish classes you will have a short trek to the sandy, white beaches of Tortuga Bay. At the beach tortoises come to lay their eggs, so you might also see marine iguanas, yellow flowering cacti and colourful, tropical birds. Best of all: you enjoy all that from the vantage point of a hired canoe!
Breakfast, Spanish lessons and lunch belong to our daily routine again. After that you will head out to the extinct volcano of Santa Cruz, which is known for its lava tunnels and the amazing ocean views. You definitely should spot a Giant Tortoise in its natural environment! In the evening you will have dinner in Puerto Ayora and time to recreate.
Do you remember one of best pictures of the Galapagos Islands, one showing an unmistakable Pinnacle Rock? Exactly, Bartholomew Island! Your daily boat trip will take you to discover this relatively small and unassuming island. What this Island lacks in wildlife it makes up for in scenery. At the top of a steep wooden stairway, there is a magnificent 360-degree view which boasts a perfect angle from which you can take unforgettable photos of Carved Rock and the ocean in the background. Your experience will be not enough if you don't snorkel in the waters of this impressive paradise.
After breakfast and Spanish lessons in the morning and a strengthening lunch you will depart to Isabela Island – of course we go by boat again! Our next destination is the largest island in the Galapagos archipelago and home for many unique species of flora and fauna. You can spend the whole afternoon exploring this amazing island and settle in for the night.
After breakfast and Spanish lessons in the morning, today you have the opportunity to get to know the darker side of the Galapagos. The Muro de Lágrimas is a wall which was handmade by prisoners in the 1940s. Fortunately nobody is still jailed at this penal colony. You will climb up to the top of it, where you can reflect the incredible contrast between the beautiful view of Galapagos and the traces of prisioners’ life.
Until now you discovered the impressive landscape of Galapagos Islands. After breakfast you´ll have the chance to explore the amazing world under the sea. By snorkelling you will see colourful fish and diverse corals. Perhaps you also swim with reef sharks and sea turtles. The rest of the day you can spend by enjoying the beach of Puerto Villamil.
You need a strengthening breakfast today, because we will have an adventurous hike to a Volcano again. In contrast to our last volcano discoveries you´ll see the active Sierra Negra volcano. Here you can witness – certainly not to close – the spectacular caldron of lava, which is the largest on the Galapagos Island. After this day you will definitely need hearty dinner and be very tired in the evening.
We will have a ride by boat to Santa Cruz Island today. Back in Puerto Ayora there are good news: you will have a lot of time for your own! You can spend your free time by strolling up and down the streets of Puerto Ayora, which are famous as Galapagos premiere tourist haven. You can walk around, eat, drink, relax and shop.
15 days/14 nights accommodation in cozy hotel or hostel with an impressive view of San Cristobal Island, Hotel Fernandina in Santa Cruz Island and in a cozy hostel in Isabela Island. All accommodation includes breakfast.
40 hours of Spanish Classes, with 30 hours of formal face to face Spanish Classes and 10 hours of practice while travelling with your Spanish teacher.
